A phone that only charges when the cable is held at an angle is often not a dead battery or a bad charger. In many cases, the port is packed with pocket lint, dust, or debris that prevents the plug from seating fully. Knowing how to clean charging ports safely can save you frustration and help you avoid paying for a repair you do not need.
The key word is safely. Charging ports contain delicate pins and, on USB-C devices, a small center tongue that can be damaged by force. Why a Charging Port Stops Working

2. Position the device with the port facing down
Gravity is your friend here. Hold the device over a clean table with the charging port pointed downward. This gives loosened dirt somewhere to fall instead of driving it farther inside.
If you are cleaning a tablet or laptop, place it securely so it cannot slip. Never work over carpet, a sink, or a cluttered area where you could lose a small tool or drop the device.
